Five Minute Friday: Connected

Join The Gypsy Mama in her invitation to connect with Five Minute Friday.  Here are the rules:

    1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
    2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
    3. Most important: visit, comment, encourage the person before you.
Ready?

GO:

Though the miles separate us, we will always be together.

I too, am a gypsy mama.  Three international moves within the past six years.  I've had to utter these words to many family and friends.  I've been through the heartache of leaving, and experienced the joy of reunions and new friendships.  I know the thread that keeps us going.

Connection.

It is the intimacy of souls that spans the oceans, land, mountains, and air.  No matter of time difference or culture difference.  It is how we were made.

It's the disconnect that upsets things, that makes us feel off kilter.  We find our peace and purpose in maintaining

the Connection.

Where do the disconnects come in?  When we shift our priorities away from those that matter, to the tiny Martha details that bog us down?  The Tyranny of the Urgent?

At Christmas, we celebrate the beginning of our restoration, our reconnection back to our Creator. [let's also celebrate our humanity, our connectedness with those we love most]

STOP.

It's nice to have a safe place to try even when words fail me.  Won't you try too?  Let's connect with our words...give it a go and give it your best five minutes.

  1. Oh this phrase here,
    "The Tyranny of the Urgent?"
what an acurate and piercing way to put it- I'm always struggling with the "urgent", the compulsive rushing- thank you for putting it that way.... wow. This is truth. God bless you, friend.

  2. So true that it can be those tiny Martha details that bog us down and make it hard for us to keep those connections alive and prospering. Great post.

  3. Kris: tyranny of the urgent was the name of this religious tract that our church had when I was young, and although I don't really dig the tract thing, that phrase has always stuck with me.

Jen: always the Martha stuff! Let's ditch that and emulate a little Mary...

  5. A cross-country move is always in the back of our minds, we know we WILL some day, we don't know WHEN. The major reservation I have, besides fear of the unknown, is losing connections with some people who mean the world to me. Thank you for the reminder that it doesn't have to.
